Malaga-Tangier Ferry Line Expands with New Moroccan Office in 2024

After almost a year of activity, the link between the ports of Malaga and Tangier is starting the year 2024 with two new features. A way for the company Marítima Peregra, which operates this line, to improve the quality of its services.
Launched in early March 2023, the Malaga-Tangier line will see major developments in 2024. Marítima Peregar is approaching the new year with the creation of a delegation in Tangier. Called Marítima Peregar Morocco, this subsidiary will be under the responsibility of port director Mohamed Merroun and will have agents distributed on the Tanger Med quay and in a central office located in Tangier City, reports Malaga Hoy.
After the installation of this commercial delegation aimed at facilitating procedures on Moroccan territory, Peregar will charter a new ship on this line in the coming weeks. According to the Spanish media, it is the ferry Urd of the Swedish company Stena Line that will serve this route to Tangier. Classified as Ro-Pax (transport of goods and passengers in Ro-Ro), the vessel is expected to arrive at the port of Malaga at the end of January from northern Europe.
With a length of 171 meters, 1,600 linear meters for goods and a capacity of 186 passengers in cabins and seats, the ferry Urd will benefit from a one-year charter contract with an option to purchase, which according to Marítima Peregar, could become effective before March if the ship meets expectations. The first passenger embarkations on this ferry are expected before the end of the first quarter of 2024.
The Malaga-Tangier line allows the import and export of products from the automotive, textile and fruit and vegetable sectors. With these two major actions, Peregar aims to increase its activity on this line, while maintaining its seven weekly rotations.
