New Ferry Service Launches on Malaga-Tangier Med Route

Changes in the regular connection between the port of Malaga, in southern Spain, and the Moroccan port of Tanger Med.
The Wasa Express is now in charge of the regular line to Tanger. Replacing the Tom Sawyer, this ship is coming from Almería where it was completing a freight with Baleària, reports the local site Malaga Hoy.
According to the information from the shipping company Marítima Peregar, which manages this route, the arrival of the Wasa Express in Malaga should only be temporary. The freight, which began recently, will not continue indefinitely, with the aim of concluding the contract before February 2024. The managers are already looking for another ship which, in addition to freight, could also transport passengers.
The Malaga-Tanger link, although recent, is experiencing constant growth. Not yet having celebrated its first anniversary, it maintains a pace of seven rotations per week.
As for the Wasa Express, this ferry was built in 1981 by the Finnish shipyard Wärtsilä. It has since changed its name and owner several times. Currently under Egyptian flag, it measures 140 meters in length and has a capacity of 915 passengers.
