Morocco Protests Hazardous Waste Shipments from Spanish Enclave to Tangier Port

Morocco has warned the shipping company Peregar, which transports waste and hazardous materials from Ceuta to the port of Tanger Med on a ship carrying food.
Morocco does not approve of this transfer of waste from Ceuta to Tanger Med and has made it known to the shipping company Peregar, which provides the link from Malaga to the Moroccan port. The company stops in Ceuta "once or twice a week" and collects the containers of waste and hazardous materials that it transports on a chartered Balearia ship carrying food products to Tanger Med, relays Ceuta al dia.
But for some time now, waste has been accumulating in the autonomous city. The reason is the expired contract between Urbaser, which manages the El Hacho treatment plant, and Peregar. Waste is removed at most twice a week and hazardous materials twice a month. The residents of Ceuta are calling for the renewal of the contract between Urbaser and Peregar so that this waste and dangerous substances such as the oxygen from the university hospital (HUCE) are removed at least once a week or every three days.
