Major Moroccan Expressway Project Nears Completion, Linking Tiznit to Dakhla

The work on the expressway connecting Tiznit to Dakhla, spanning 1055 km, has reached 72%, according to the Director of this gigantic project. As for the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra section, its completion rate has exceeded 80%.

In detail, the progress of the project is distributed as follows: 66% for the expressway, 71% for the major engineering structures and 100% for the development of the National Road N°1 between Laâyoune and Dakhla, specified the Director, Mbarek Fancha, on the occasion of a field visit by a delegation from the Interior, Territorial Authorities and Infrastructure Committee of the House of Advisors.

Thus, the members of the commission visited several sections of this mega-project, which is part of the new development model of the Southern Provinces, in particular the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra axis, which has recorded a completion rate of 81%.

The delegation then headed to the Guelmim-Laâyoune section of the project, which consists of 11 lots and 10 engineering structures for a total cost of around 4 billion dirhams. Several other lots were visited during this field trip, during which the members of the commission inquired about the overall progress of the construction site.

This major project is promised to have a very beneficial economic and social impact on the population of the regions concerned, in particular through the encouragement of public and private investments, the reduction of vehicle operating costs, the contribution to the development of national entrepreneurship, the promotion of employment, and the creation of temporary and permanent jobs.
