The project to build the expressway connecting Tiznit to Dakhla (1,055 km), at a total cost of around 10 billion dirhams, has already reached an execution level of more than 75%.
The completion rate of this mega project was around 72% in February, the project director had announced during a field visit by a delegation from the Interior, Territorial Authorities and Infrastructure Commission to the House of Advisors. The N1 national road between Laâyoune and Dakhla, which is a component of the project, is already completed. The two other components, namely the road network and the major engineering structures, are at 66% and 71% completion rates respectively.
Work on lots 2 and 3 of the Tiznit-Guelmim section of the expressway is also progressing at a steady pace, already exceeding 58% for a cost of 3.8 billion dirhams. With a total cost of 4.2 billion dirhams, the work on the expressway in the Guelmim Oued-Noun region concerns the construction of 8 sections with a total length of 292 km and 11 major engineering structures.
Ultimately, the project will have an economic and social impact on the population of the regions concerned. This will involve promoting public and private investment, promoting employment, reducing vehicle operating costs, etc. The project is the result of a partnership between the Ministries of Equipment and Water, Interior, Economy and Finance, and the regions of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Guelmim Oued-Noun, Dakhla-Oued Eddahab and Souss Massa.
