Major Drug Bust: Nearly 1 Ton of Moroccan Cannabis Seized from Polish Truck in France

French customs officers arrested a Polish truck driver on Friday, September 6, transporting 917 kg of cannabis resin.
According to Le Parisien, the customs officers ordered the truck driver to stop for a routine check on the A7 motorway at the Vienne-Reventin (Isère) toll booth.
During the check, they discovered a load of drugs, packed in canvas bales, a characteristic packaging of Moroccan cultivation. In total, 917 kg of cannabis resin were hidden at the back of the trailer behind the cargo.
Upon this discovery, the customs officers arrested the driver and seized the cannabis. After spending the night in customs detention, he was placed in custody at the Lyon Judicial Police station.
The 57-year-old man reportedly told investigators that he had gone to the Alicante region in Spain to deliver refrigerators, and that the 917 kg of resin had been slipped into his truck without his knowledge on the return journey, according to Le Dauphiné Libéré.
