Macron to Visit Morocco for $2.5 Billion High-Speed Rail Deal

French President Emmanuel Macron is to make an official visit to Morocco on February 13. On the agenda, a possible signing of the contract for the high-speed rail line (TGV) connecting Marrakech to Agadir.
According to the daily Al Massae, the president is arriving in Morocco to oversee the signing of the lucrative contract that interests many other countries. It is the extension of the Moroccan high-speed line (LGV) that will connect the cities of Marrakech and Agadir.
To this end, a budget envelope worth 25 billion dirhams has been allocated to this gigantic project, intended to reduce the gaps between northern and southern Morocco.
Furthermore, adds the daily, the agreement between the two countries should put an end to the rumors that Chinese companies have entered the competition.
