Lyon Eyes West Ham’s Aguerd in Ambitious Ligue 1 Survival Bid

Olympique Lyonnais, currently in last place in Ligue 1, is counting on the winter transfer window to strengthen its team. OL could call on a Moroccan player, but the mission is likely to be difficult, even impossible.
With only 7 points and an 18th place in the standings, the club’s main objective is to ensure its maintenance in the elite of French football. After receiving the green light from the National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG), OL is now authorized to recruit new players, a boon for the club which is looking to revitalize its workforce and regain its former glory.
Among the targeted players, the French daily L’Équipe reports that Nayef Aguerd, central defender of West Ham and Moroccan international, is particularly coveted by OL. But the transfer of Aguerd, under contract with West Ham until 2027, seems complex. Aguerd is a key element of West Ham’s squad, having participated in 18 matches this season and contributed 2 goals and one assist.
