Luxury Resorts Block Public Access to Popular Moroccan Beaches

The anarchic occupation of the maritime domain by hotel units and luxury residences in the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq prevents vacationers from having access to these spaces and enjoying them freely.
The beaches of Restinga and Marina Smir, freely accessible to the public a few years ago, are now occupied by hotel units and luxury residences belonging to influential lobbies who have hired private security guards to prevent vacationers from accessing these spaces.
Other lobbies had also tried to settle on several beaches of Oued Esmér, according to civil society organizations, calling on the competent authorities to take urgent and firm measures to put an end to this chaos and allow the public to access the beaches.
