London Charity Launches "Iftar Fi Dar" to Support Muslim Families During Ramadan Amid COVID-19

In London, as elsewhere in the world, covid-19 has disrupted the habits of the Ramadan period among Muslims. In order to support disadvantaged families and the elderly confined, in these difficult times, the Al-Hassaniya Center for Moroccan Women has initiated the "Iftar Fi Dar" operation.
The "Iftar Fi Dar" operation is a humanitarian initiative of the Al-Hassaniya Center for Moroccan Women. The official launch of this initiative took place last Thursday and was chaired by Khalid El Moujaddidi, Consul General of Morocco in London. The operation aims to provide assistance to needy families and the elderly confined during Ramadan with the support of the Kensington and Chelsea Foundation. It allows to live the values of solidarity and mutual aid that characterize the month of Ramadan.
The purpose of this initiative is to distribute daily meals, especially the Iftar, to many Moroccan households, and above all to reassure the confined in these difficult times, because confinement is not synonymous with loneliness, observes La Map. Souad Talsi, the director of the Al-Hassaniya Center for Moroccan Women, confided that covid-19 has created an involuntary division, but that the center is working hard to bring cohesion back. The absence of prayers in mosques has left a great void in the life of the community, insists the head of the center who is running the operation remotely from Morocco, where she has been confined for more than two months.
For the vast majority of beneficiaries, the fact of receiving every evening a basket of food and halal meals that are well cooked and homemade, can only warm their hearts and strengthen their sense of belonging to their community, rejoices Souad Talsi. The Consul General of Morocco in London and the Mayor of the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Will Pascal, have welcomed the initiative of the Al-Hassaniya Center, which they support. According to them, this gesture is a symbol of the spirit of solidarity and mutual aid.
