Moroccan Pharmacists Provide Ramadan Aid to Families Impacted by COVID-19

Pharmacists have distributed Ramadan baskets to the benefit of unemployed people and needy families due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Thanks to the MPHARMA association, which brings together pharmacists from the kingdom and has branches in every city, distributions have been organized for their benefit in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods of the city of Rabat and Salé for three days, to allow them to have the food supplies for a month of Ramadan, namely: oil, flour, sugar, tea, eggs, legumes, pasta, canned tomatoes, cheese, soap and other products necessary for the preparation of traditional Moroccan dishes for the sacred month of fasting.

According to Mohamed Soulami, president of the MPHARMA association, two large baskets of basic food products were distributed to each family. "We have set up a list of families and those in need, as well as people who have lost their jobs. We were used to doing this kind of initiative during the Ramadan period; but this time, we have added to our list, people and families who have lost their sources of income since the beginning of the lockdown," he specified.

According to the official, a little more than 300 families were able to benefit from these food baskets. He also adds that "it is the women of our association who have ensured the composition of these baskets with the necessary products, especially during this Ramadan period".

"If each of us tries to do our best and helps our neighbor, no family will suffer during this period (of confinement due to the coronavirus, editor’s note). People just need to take this initiative," he wished.
