Lawmaker Demands Employment Minister’s Resignation Over Deadly Tangier Workshop Tragedy

A deputy from the Party of Authenticity and Modernity called for the resignation of the Minister of Employment, Mohamed Amekraz, following the tragedy that occurred on Monday in a clandestine workshop in Tangier.
During the oral question session held on Monday at the House of Representatives, the parliamentarian Zhor El Ouahabi declared: "You should have submitted your resignation before arriving at the legislative institution. You are the first responsible for the death of the young woman, the child and the minor," adding "you assume full responsibility for it."
"A judicial investigation, opened under the supervision of the Attorney General’s Office, will determine the respective responsibilities," the minister replied, stressing that "we will not accept any compromise at the expense of the victims. These are our children and we have an obligation to defend them."
In total, 28 people were electrocuted to death on Monday following the flooding of a clandestine textile factory located in the basement of a villa in the Barness residential district of Tangier.
