US Offers Condolences After Deadly Tragedy in Tangier Claims 29 Lives

The United States has offered its condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy that occurred in Tangier on Monday, February 8, 2021. The toll stands at 29 dead and several injured.
In a message, David Greene, chargé d’affaires at the US embassy in Morocco, presented on behalf of his country, his "most sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy" of last Monday. The United States also wished a speedy recovery to the injured. Before them, Israel had expressed its compassion to the "Moroccan brothers". "Our hearts are with you, our brothers and sisters in Morocco, in this painful calamity," the official Israeli account had tweeted.
On Monday, 28 people were electrocuted to death in a textile unit located in the basement of a villa in Hay Alinas, in the El Mers area of Tangier. The factory had suffered flooding.
