Lacoste Faces Boycott Calls Over Controversial Morocco Map on New Collection

On the web, a call to boycott Lacoste has been launched following the launch of a collection by the French brand displaying a map of Morocco amputated of its Sahara.
The new collection from Lacoste, a French company specializing in the manufacture of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, is not to the taste of Moroccan Internet users, not because the brand is offering for sale a polo under the reference "L.12.12 graphic planisphere" representing the world map, but because we can see a map of Morocco amputated of the Sahara. Some wonder if Lacoste’s mapping services have deliberately authorized this map.
The United States had unveiled, for the first time ever, an "official new map" of Morocco integrating the territory of the Sahara during a ceremony organized at the US embassy in Rabat on December 12, 2020, two days after the decree signed by the former US President Donald Trump recognizing the Moroccanness of the Sahara. Since then, the US State Department, the CIA, NATO, NASA, as well as airlines such as Delta Airlines have adopted the complete map of Morocco.
