Italian Tourist Stabbed in Morocco; Suspect with Mental Health History Arrested

An apparently "unbalanced" individual was arrested on Sunday by the Tiznit police for his alleged involvement in a knife attack on an Italian tourist.
The 31-year-old suspect allegedly attacked the 51-year-old victim with a homemade sword, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The victim, who was slightly injured in the back, was taken to the hospital for necessary care, the DGSN said, noting that she left the hospital a few hours later.
According to the initial investigation, the suspect had been admitted to a psychiatric hospital on several occasions, the same source said.
An investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to determine the motives for this attack and verify the criminal nature of the acts committed and examine the mental and physical health of the suspect, the statement concluded.
