Istiqlal Party Pledges Support for Moroccan Government While Maintaining Oversight Role
The Istiqlal party reiterated its support for the government, but says it intends to fully play its role in overseeing government action.
During the recent debate on the draft Finance Act in the House of Representatives, the president of the Istiqlal parliamentary group, Nourredine Mediane, indicated that his party, although committed alongside the government, "will provide advice when necessary." Because, he believes, support does not mean blindly following at all levels, but rather correcting any imbalances.
Furthermore, the party welcomed the measures announced to support small and medium-sized enterprises in order to accelerate the economic takeoff and called for their effective implementation.
It also recalled the need to integrate the border areas, which are experiencing an economic and social crisis, into public investment projects.
In this regard, Mediane highlighted the difficulties for rural populations in accessing health care, exacerbating the material and social conditions of civil servants serving in these regions.
