Istiqlal Party Agrees to Join Morocco’s Next Government Coalition

The Istiqlal Party (PI) is ready to participate in the next government. This is the decision taken by the National Council of the political party, at the end of the proceedings of its extraordinary session, held virtually on Saturday in Rabat.
It is through a press release that the party made its decision public, in response to the offer of the designated head of government, Aziz Akhannouch. It is the Secretary General of the party, Nizar Baraka, who was appointed, assisted by the members of the Executive Committee, to conduct the negotiations, ensuring the formation of a "strong, united and above all capable government to achieve the much-awaited change for all Moroccans".
In doing so, the PI, buoyed by its "historic" victory in the aftermath of the September 8 elections, and taking into account partisan alliances, has decided to "take part in the implementation of the Kingdom’s New Development Model and the project to universalize social protection, to accelerate advanced regionalization and to work to reduce social and spatial disparities, in addition to promoting the middle class".
"We are on the eve of a new political and institutional horizon, of which we are an integral part by the force of circumstances and by the force of the ballot box," rejoiced the Secretary General of the PI. It should be noted that the PI came third in the September 8 legislative elections, with 81 seats.
