Israeli News Channel i24news to Open Dubai Office, Eyes Expansion in Abraham Accords Countries
The i24news channel based in Israel has decided to open an office in the United Arab Emirates, one of the countries that normalized its relations with the Hebrew state. Will Morocco be the next step?
"The heart of a new Middle East beats on i24News" is the new slogan of the channel based in Jaffa, on the Israeli coast. It intends to show a new face of the region. First step: open an office in the Media City of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.
"At the symbolic level, this shows that i24news is perceived [...] as the platform and channel of the Abraham Accords (the name given to the normalization agreements between Israel, the Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, editor’s note)," said Frank Melloul, CEO of i24news, to the AFP. "It also shows how i24news has managed to establish itself in record time as a major media player in the region," he estimated.
After the United Arab Emirates, the channel based in Jaffa could set up in Morocco, a country that normalized its diplomatic relations with Israel in December 2020 in exchange for the American recognition of the kingdom’s sovereignty over the Sahara. In addition, the two countries are working to strengthen their cooperation, as the normalization has generated great interest.
