Moroccan UN Envoy Joins Celebration of Abraham Accords’ First Anniversary in New York

At the invitation of the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations, participates this Monday, September 13, 2021 in New York, in the first ceremony celebrating the Abraham Accords.
In addition to the Moroccan diplomat, the Permanent Representatives of the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to the United Nations are also invited to the first ceremony celebrating the Abraham Accords in New York, reports i24News. The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations is expected to deliver a speech.
Morocco is the fourth Arab country - after the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan - to have normalized its diplomatic relations with Israel on December 10, 2020. Since then, the two parties have been working to strengthen their ties. Direct flights between the two countries have been launched. The Hebrew State has already inaugurated its liaison office in Rabat on the sidelines of the historic visit of the Israeli Foreign Minister to Morocco.
Yaïr Lapid and his counterpart Nasser Bourita had also signed three new agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the political, cultural, youth and sports and air services fields. The two parties also decided to transform their liaison offices into official embassies.
