Moroccan Muslim Student Makes History at Israeli University, Boosting Diplomatic Ties

David Govrin, Israel’s chargé d’affaires in Morocco, announced the enrollment of a Moroccan student of non-Jewish descent in an Israeli university. A first.
"Among the strongest manifestations of cultural cooperation between Morocco and Israel is the enrollment of the first 17-year-old Moroccan student at the Kfar Hayarok international school to study," says David Govrin in a post published on Twitter.

After the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel under the impetus of the United States on December 10, 2020, the two parties are working to strengthen their ties. During the two-day working visit of Yaïr Lapid, Israel’s foreign minister, to Morocco in August, the two countries had signed three new agreements to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the political, cultural, youth and sports and air services fields.
In the field of education, the International University of Rabat (UIR) in Rabat and Ben Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in Israel signed a partnership in September. The two universities are committed to facilitating academic and scientific cooperation through joint research as well as teaching and student mobility in the fields of social and natural sciences, as well as the humanities.
