Blinken to Host Virtual Summit Marking Abraham Accords Anniversary with Israel, Arab Partners

The State Department says Secretary of State Antony Blinken will virtually convene his counterparts from Israel and Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain on Friday, September 17, for the first anniversary of the normalization of their relations.
According to a spokesperson, the Secretary of State will meet with the Foreign Ministers of the four countries to "commemorate the first anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords and discuss ways to deepen relations and build a more prosperous region." Only the Foreign Minister of Sudan - a country that has also normalized its diplomatic relations with Israel - is not invited to this virtual meeting.
Under the auspices of the former American president, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain had normalized their relations with the Hebrew state on September 15, 2020. Sudan and Morocco followed suit. The kingdom had restored its relations with Israel on December 10, 2020 in exchange for the American recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
