Morocco Set to Open Embassy in Israel, Advancing Normalization Efforts

Morocco, which is one of the four Arab countries (United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan) to have normalized its relations with Israel, intends to open an embassy in Tel Aviv. It plans to transform its completely renovated liaison office into an official embassy.
Morocco is working to complete its normalization process with Israel. In this sense, it intends to soon transform its diplomatic liaison office in Tel Aviv into an official embassy, reports the American site Axios.com. This process "could be the first tangible achievement in the Biden administration’s efforts to advance the normalization agreements of the Trump era between Israel and the Arab world," it is noted. "The Moroccans plan to announce the embassy decision soon, although the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has refused to comment on the decision," it is specified.
Under the aegis of the United States, Morocco had normalized its diplomatic relations with Israel in December last year in exchange for the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara. It is the fourth Arab country to open a new diplomatic chapter towards the Hebrew state, following the United Arab Emirates (August 13), Bahrain (September 11) and Sudan (October 23). For its part, Israel has reopened its representation in Morocco 20 years after its closure.
