Insurance Fraud Scheme Uncovered in Morocco’s Auto Accident Claims
Experts are accused of being involved in the falsification of compensation files for road accidents following an investigation conducted by several insurance companies.
It all started with an observation: the dizzying increase in the volume of compensation for road accidents over the past three years, which has affected the profitability of insurance companies, whose profit margin has been reduced by 10% in the automotive sector, reports Assabah. In total, 9 billion dirhams were disbursed as compensation for road accident damages, of which 90% represent material damage.
According to sources close to this industry, companies have sent auto insurance experts to assess the severity of the claim and estimate the cost. The investigations proved fruitful. It appears that several files for compensation of road accidents have been falsified. The provisional assessment of the damages suffered as a result of this fraud estimates the losses at more than 60,000 DH. The investigation continues in close coordination with the insurance companies, in order to identify all the falsified files.
"After the investigations and the collection of all the incriminating documents against the experts involved in this scam, this file will be presented to justice," assures an insurer.
