Hospital Worker Arrested for Attempted Rape of Patient in Rabat

When this 25-year-old girl went to the Ibn Sina Hospital in Rabat to have an operation, she was far from imagining that she would narrowly escape a rape with herself as the victim. The suspect is a temporary worker employed at this health facility.
The scandal broke out when the victim filed a complaint with the police, accusing a temporary worker operating within the hospital of attempting to rape her as she was leaving the operating room. According to the daily Al Akhbar, the police quickly responded by opening an investigation. The victim gave a rather poignant account of the aggressor’s intentions, who was moreover arrested and taken into custody, before being brought before the investigating judge last Wednesday.
The accused is a 27-year-old man who took advantage of a quiet moment in the ward where the victim was hospitalized to carry out his plan. According to the newspaper, on the pretext that the attending physician was waiting for her for a consultation, he made her believe that as part of her care protocol, she had to have rehabilitation sessions right after her operation. She had barely time to get out of her wheelchair when she was led into a room where the accused tried to rape her.
But the young woman, although just out of the operating room, fought with all her might to prevent the young man from committing his crime. The recording of the cameras, the testimonies of the patients sharing the care room with the victim and the statement of the latter perfectly match, confronting the accused with his actions, the newspaper specifies.
