Hospital Staff Arrested in Fez for Drug Theft and Trafficking Scheme

The prefectural service of the judicial police of Fez arrested two individuals in Fez for their involvement in the diversion of drugs from a public hospital and their commercialization outside their legal framework.
The two suspects, aged 37, work in the health sector, one as a sales representative of a private company, and the other, a specialist nurse at a public hospital in Fez.
The operation, carried out in collaboration with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), made it possible to arrest, on Friday, the first one at the Meknes bus station, in the act of receiving a postal package containing a large quantity of drugs and pharmaceutical products used in anesthesia, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The investigations carried out made it possible to conclude that these drugs were sent by the second suspect who works as a specialist nurse in a public hospital in Fez.
It also states that the searches carried out at the homes of the two suspects, in Meknes and Fez, made it possible to seize 2,007 additional units of drugs and anesthetic products, as well as medical and paramedical equipment, the value of which exceeds 90,000 dirhams.
For the needs of the investigation, the two suspects were placed in custody.
