Holiday Airfares Soar: France to Morocco Flights See Sharp Price Increase for Christmas Travel

A study conducted by a flight comparator on the most searched destinations confirms the rise in airfares from France to medium-haul destinations. What about flights to Morocco?
The rise in airfares from France at the end of the year will be confirmed. These are the conclusions of a Liligo study on the most searched destinations for a trip from December 23, 2023 to December 30, 2023 (for the Christmas holidays). For short and medium-haul flights, the traveler will have to spend almost twice as much (+94%) to go to Lisbon (273 euros round trip), compared to the prices charged in May (+32% compared to the period of August), reports Air Journal.
Ticket prices increase by 66% and 18% compared to May and August 2023 respectively for Rome (233 euros), by 64% and 28% for Istanbul (418 euros), by 49% and 13% for London (194 euros), by 13% and 22% for Barcelona (173 euros) and by 17% and 8% for New York (695 euros). Saint-Denis de la Réunion (1298 euros R/T) has increased by 8% compared to May. On the other hand, airfares from France to Marrakech are down 17% and 14% compared to May and August 2023 respectively. To Montreal (580 euros), the drop is 17% and 14%, Bangkok (1236 euros) 8% compared to May 2023.

Despite the soaring prices of tickets and the duration between the search and the purchase of the ticket which "is halved (about twenty days currently)", the desire to travel, to discover other horizons after the Covid-19 pandemic is intact among the French, notes Liligo. "It’s very paradoxical," says Guillaume Rostand, spokesperson for Liligo in Le Parisien, "but travelers now know they have to book in advance." And he adds: "There is therefore a very strong demand three months in advance, which mechanically drives up prices at the moment. Before a relatively modest decrease, the coming weeks."
