Airfare Prices Spike on France-Morocco Routes, DGAC Report Shows

According to the Passenger Air Transport Price Index (IPTAP) of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), airline ticket prices between France and Morocco are on the rise.

In August 2024, the evolution of airline ticket prices from France is zero compared to August 2023, according to the Passenger Air Transport Price Index (IPTAP) of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), reports Air Journal. All destinations combined, prices have experienced a very slight decrease from metropolitan France (-0.1%) and a more significant decrease on the long-haul international route (-2.7%) and from the overseas departments (-2.3%). In the cumulative 8 months of 2024, the price evolution, for all destinations combined, is neutral (0%), it is specified.

What about the 12-month evolution? From metropolitan France, the evolutions "are contrasted", it is noted. While the decline is strong towards the Overseas Territories and Asia-Pacific, prices on intra-metropolitan flights and on certain long-haul international flights such as North America and medium-haul flights such as North Africa Levant and other European countries are on the rise.

Furthermore, there is a stagnation of medium-haul flight prices (0%). This stagnation is largely explained by flights to the European Economic Area alone, whose price drop reaches -3.2%. This decrease is mainly attributable, there too, to low-cost airlines. As for prices to other medium-haul destinations, they vary between +4.7% to North African countries and +9.2% to other European countries.
