Al Hoceima Port Gears Up for Moroccan Diaspora Influx in Marhaba 2024 Operation

The port of Al Hoceima is actively preparing to welcome Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) who will start arriving in the kingdom from June 13 as part of the Marhaba 2024 Operation.
Adil El Bardi, the director of the port of Al Hoceima, has assured that all operational and organizational arrangements have been made, in collaboration with all stakeholders including the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, to welcome MREs and succeed in the Marhaba 2024 Operation.
The reception and waiting areas for MREs have been renovated and all areas of the station have been equipped with a public lighting system, the port authority specifies. Also, the Royal Gendarmerie has been equipped to ensure better maritime navigation surveillance within the port. Particular emphasis has also been placed on the hygiene, disinfection and public health aspect.
From an organizational point of view, the staff dedicated to the control of MREs and their goods has been strengthened in order to facilitate their transit. In the same vein, a direct maritime line with the port of Motril will be established, with daily rotations. The security staff has also been increased and the means of communication with passengers strengthened.
During the previous edition, the port of Al Hoceima recorded the record arrival of 60,103 MREs and 15,652 vehicles. Figures that are likely to increase this year, according to forecasts. The Marhaba Operation takes place each year from June 15 to September 15. It allows Moroccans in Europe to reach the kingdom to spend their summer holidays.
