Hitchhiking Gang Leaders Arrested Near Casablanca for Robbing Travelers

The elements of the Berrechid gendarmerie proceeded to arrest two members of a criminal gang that was active in the vicinity of Casablanca and Settat. They stripped hitchhikers of their belongings and fled.
Two individuals known to the justice system are the alleged leaders of the criminal gang operating in the vicinity of Casablanca, Soualem, Bir Jdid, Chtouka, Berrechid and Settat, reports Assabah. Their modus operandi is to use a rental car to pick up hitchhikers. As soon as they get into their car, they strip them of their belongings (money, phones and other valuables). Once the operation is completed, they make the victims get out and flee.
The elements of the Berrechid gendarmerie managed to arrest two members of this criminal gang after receiving several complaints from victims. They had to set a trap for them to achieve this feat. During their arrest, the investigators seized the car used to commit the crimes, bladed weapons and mobile phones.
Pending the identification of the other members of the gang, the two arrested persons were placed in custody.
