Local Official Arrested in Youssoufia Drug Bust as Gendarmerie Dismantles Trafficking Ring
The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of Echemmaia have dismantled a drug trafficking network to which belongs an authority agent working in the Dar Bouâouda region under the province of Youssoufia.
Four of these drug traffickers were arrested as they were about to distribute 500 g of hashish. It all started with the arrest last Saturday by the gendarmes of Echemmaia of a member of the criminal gang. Revealing the identity of the other members to the investigators, the arrested trafficker cited the authority agent and the other members.
He even told them that they were supposed to meet to share half a kilo of hashish. That’s when a trap was set by the agents of the Royal Gendarmerie who ended up arresting them.
The four drug traffickers, including the authority agent, will be questioned again on Tuesday, May 25.
