Moroccan Authorities Bust Counterfeit Money Ring Near Marrakech

The elements of the gendarmerie of Tassoultante, near Marrakech, last Friday, proceeded to the arrest of a gang of counterfeiters of banknotes.
The members of this apprehended gang are five in number, reports Al Massae. Among them, a photographer, arrested in the Koukou douar. During the searches, the investigators seized printing equipment, reams of paper to manufacture 200 dirham banknotes as well as a car. Pending their appearance before the competent general prosecutor’s office, the suspects were placed in custody.
The elements of the gendarmerie of Loudaya also achieved an exploit. They managed to arrest two members of a criminal gang - a scrap dealer and his accomplice - accused of having burgled an agricultural equipment and products sales company. After being placed in custody, the two suspects were brought before the King’s Attorney General at the Marrakech Court of Appeal. Prosecuted for criminal conspiracy and aggravated theft, they were placed in pre-trial detention in the Loudaya prison.
The investigation by the gendarmes proved fruitful: the fences who were responsible for disposing of the stolen agricultural equipment were identified and summoned. The trial of all the accused will open on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
