Moroccan Doctors Arrested in Ukraine Student Extortion Scheme

After the arrest and extradition by the Romanian authorities of the mastermind of a criminal gang involved in human trafficking whose victims are Moroccan students in Ukraine, the anti-gang brigade of Rabat succeeded in arresting two doctors who would belong to the same network.
A doctor, head of an e-commerce company, and a dentist practicing in Morocco. These are the members of this network who were arrested by the anti-gang brigade of the SPRJ of Rabat following the statements of the main accused, a plaintiff and a witness. Originally from Marrakech, these two doctors studied and obtained their medical degree in Ukraine. After their arrest, they were brought before the Attorney General of the King near the Court of Appeal of Rabat last week.
It emerges from the statements of the plaintiff and the witness that the members of this criminal gang, in collusion with Ukrainian police officers, had trapped Moroccan students in fictitious drug trafficking cases, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. They would discreetly place drugs in the suitcases of these students, then inform their accomplices in the Ukrainian police to arrest them. Finally, they blackmail their parents in Morocco. They demand the transfer of large sums of money in exchange for the release of their arbitrarily arrested children.
The two accused claim that there were only commercial transactions between the main accused and them. The surgeon claimed that the large sums of money transferred to the accounts of his company are the product of commercial operations in the electronics sector. The investigating judge at the Court of Appeal of Rabat decided to detain the doctor director of the company and to prosecute the dentist on provisional release, according to sources close to the investigation.
