Hirak Activist Nasser Zefzafi Faces Sanctions Over Unauthorized Prison Video

An investigation has been opened regarding the video on Facebook, attributed to the Hirak detainee, Nasser Zefzafi, according to a press release from the DGPAR.
As part of the investigation, a Central Commission has been dispatched to the Ras El Ma local prison in Fez to identify the responsibilities within the administration of the penitentiary institution, with a view to imposing sanctions on those involved and the prisoner concerned.
According to the preliminary results of the investigation, the prisoner expressed to the staff his willingness to meet his relatives to make a recording.
Faced with the refusal of the prison administration to comply with his request, the leader of the popular protest, Hirak, in Al Hoceima and his companions opposed the orders of the prison staff, refusing to return to their cells.
The insurgents, according to the DGPAR, also assaulted some elements of the prison administration staff, on the grounds that one of them was not allowed to have a telephone communication with his relatives.
The same source assures that the assaulted staff underwent medical examinations at the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez and filed a complaint with the competent prosecutor’s office.
