Hirak Leaders End Hunger Strike After Prison Visit in Morocco

Nasser Zefzafi and Nabil Ahamjik have suspended the hunger strike they had been observing for a few days. The two leaders of the Hirak of Al Hoceima had been sanctioned by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), following the leak of an audio recording of Nasser Zefzafi.
According to Mohamed, Nabil Ahamjik’s brother, Nasser and Nabil, after speaking on the phone, decided to suspend their hunger strike. This decision follows "the visit of an official delegation to the Ras El Ma prison" where Zefzafi is serving a 20-year sentence, reports TelQuel.
For his part, Ahmed Zefzafi, Nasser’s father, said in a post on his Facebook account that "Nasser demanded that the official delegation visiting suspend the DGAPR sanctions".
In early November, in an audio recording, Nasser Zefzafi accused the law enforcement officers who arrested him of "serious shortcomings". Following the leak of this audio, the director of the Ras El Ma prison was dismissed, while three employees of the penitentiary institution were suspended.
Subsequently, the DGAPR took, against five detainees of the Hirak of Al Hoceima, a ban on family visits for 45 days as well as their separation and transfer to different prisons, not to mention their placement in solitary confinement, specifies the same source.
