Moroccan Prison Denies Assault Claims Against Activist Nasser Zefzafi

The administration of the local prison of Ain Sbaa 1 provided, on Saturday, May 7, a formal denial regarding the allegations of the assault of the detainee Nasser Zefzafi.
The false allegations contained in an article published by certain electronic sites about the detainee Nasser Zefzafi are unfounded, affirms the administration of the penitentiary institution, specifying that the detainee in question has not suffered any verbal or physical aggression from the prison officials. Moreover, the detainee himself confirmed this information to the director of the penitentiary institution, assures the same source.
The administration of the penitentiary institution also indicates that the relationship between the officials and the detainees is framed by the laws governing the penitentiary institutions. It assures that the detainee enjoys all his rights guaranteed by law, including the right to food, medical care and recreation, the right to contact his family and to benefit from the institution’s kiosk, like the other inmates.
Linking the housing conditions of the detainee concerned with previous statements by his father is the "work" of the imagination of the author of the article, the same source points out. The administration of the penitentiary institution reaffirms its concern to treat all detainees on an equal footing, regardless of the crimes or offenses they are accused of, or their social conditions outside of prison.
