Moroccan Activist Mâati Monjib Announces Hunger Strike in Salé Prison

After the formal denial of the General Delegation of Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR), the detainee Mâati Monjib wants to start a hunger strike. Fearing the repercussions on his health, the administration of the prison establishment has tried to dissuade him, according to a statement from the local prison El Arjat 2, in Salé.
In a clarification, the administration of the prison establishment in Salé announced that it was orally informed on Monday afternoon by the detainee of his decision to start a hunger strike due to the case that led to his detention. According to the local prison El Arjat 2 in Salé, this new decision by the detainee is contrary to what has been circulated by certain parties who claim that the detainee in question had started this strike since March 4, 2021".
The administration of the prison establishment also specified that it had tried to dissuade him by exposing the consequences on his health. Determined to start this hunger strike, the detainee was placed under the medical supervision of the prison establishment and the competent judicial authorities were notified," the same document concludes.
