Al-Hoceima Prisoners Face Disciplinary Action for Violating Prison Rules

Disciplinary measures have been taken against the prisoners of Ras El Ma in Fez, in the context of the events in Al-Hoceima, due to their "very serious violations of the law governing prisons and the internal regulations of their penitentiary institution".
The inmates were sanctioned for their "refusal to carry out orders from prison staff" and then for "assault and rebellion", according to a statement from the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR).
The DGAPR felt the need to respond to a statement from a "human rights organization claiming to defend human rights and presenting itself as the spokesperson for the families of detainees, in the context of the events in Al-Hoceima, as well as to a recording of the father of one of these detainees, relayed on social networks".
"In taking these measures, the DGAPR has only fulfilled its duty and mission to enforce the law, maintain security within this penitentiary institution and preserve the safety of the inmates," the same source said.
The DGAPR also assured that the administration and staff of the penitentiary institution have never mistreated any of the detainees concerned and have not exposed any of them to "torture".
For the institution, the two associations as well as the father of the detainee Nasser Zefzafi are clearly motivated by the desire to mislead public opinion through false information and allegations, and then to exploit the conditions of the families of the other detainees, in order to achieve their goals and serve agendas that go against the higher interests of the homeland, concludes the statement.
