Heavy Rains Expose Crumbling Roads in Casablanca Region, Sparking Public Outcry

The recent rains have affected several roads and infrastructure at the level of the communes of the Casablanca-Settat region, making traffic difficult for users. Civil society actors are calling for their repair.
After the recent rains, large potholes have appeared on certain roads, particularly in the communes of Sidi Hajjaj Oued Hassar, Tit Mellil, as well as in the communes of Sidi Moussa El Mejdoub, Sidi Moussa Ben Ali, Had Soualem. The appearance of these holes has affected road traffic, but it has also caused material damage to vehicles.
The vast majority of roads in the various communes have been damaged by the rains, or have revealed their defects as soon as the first heavy rains, confirms an associative actor to Hespress. According to him, potholes have also appeared in some districts of the economic capital such as Lissasfa, Hay Moulay Rachid and Sidi Moumen, and the roads have been damaged by these rains.
According to him, the appearance of these large potholes represents a danger for the users of these roads, especially at night and in areas without public lighting. He then calls on local officials and elected authorities to intervene to repair these roads, which are considered a fundamental pillar of development. Roads are the basis of any reform, he points out.
