Residents of the municipalities neighboring the city of Casablanca have expressed their anger at the proliferation of waste in the streets, as the region prepares to host World Cup 2030 matches.
Exasperated by the accumulation of waste, the residents of Sidi Hajjaj, Sidi Moussa Ben Ali, Lahraouiyine, Benslimane, Beni Yakhlef and Oued Cherrat are calling on the competent authorities to take their responsibilities and find a viable solution to this situation that does not honor the region.
An activist in the field of the environment has denounced this proliferation of waste in these municipalities neighboring Casablanca, assuring that this situation affects the economic capital of the kingdom which is preparing to host World Cup 2030 matches. In a statement to Hespress, he called on the authorities to take urgent action to clear these municipalities of these black spots in order to preserve the image of Morocco and guarantee citizens their right to a clean environment.
An associative activist has also deplored the lack of responsiveness of the local authorities of the municipalities concerned in the face of this situation, calling on them to find a solution quickly. He asked the provincial authorities to take measures to compel these municipalities to organize daily street cleaning campaigns, while continuing awareness-raising actions for the populations, in collaboration with local associations.
