Fugitive Drug Trafficking Suspect Arrested in Morocco After Year-Long Manhunt

The Tetouan police arrested, on Wednesday, two individuals suspected of belonging to a criminal gang specializing in the possession and international drug trafficking as well as their involvement in a shooting attempt.
Aged 39 and 34, the two individuals were arrested as part of an operation carried out in collaboration with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). According to the police sources, the main suspect had been wanted for a year, for having shot with a rifle on a person in M’diq in a dark case of settling scores. The weapon was registered in the name of his associate, also arrested.
Under an arrest warrant issued by the judicial police services of Tetouan, the individual was also wanted for his alleged involvement in international drug trafficking and his participation in a network of illegal immigration. He is also accused of counterfeiting, rape, assault and battery with the use of a bladed weapon as well as aggravated theft.
The searches carried out during his search warrant allowed the seizure of the shotgun used in the crime, 240 cartridges, six mobile phones, several bladed weapons, a tear gas bomb, a city car, fake license plates and a quantity of cannabis. The accused were taken into custody pending a thorough investigation by the public prosecutor’s office.
