French Tourist Arrested at Marrakech Airport with Concealed Pistol and Ammunition
A nice catch for the customs officers at Marrakech-Ménara airport this weekend. They thwarted an attempt to bring a firearm into Moroccan soil by apprehending a Frenchman who was about to go through security checks with a rather sensitive cargo in his luggage.
The events took place on Saturday, August 16th in the morning. According to information reported by Kech24, the agents’ attention was drawn to a French citizen disembarking from a flight from Paris-Orly airport. The search revealed that he was carrying an automatic pistol as well as live ammunition. A total of four 9mm caliber bullets were seized.
Immediately apprehended following this discovery, he was handed over to the airport security services. An investigation was promptly opened and the suspect was taken into custody.
The investigations will now have to shed full light on this case. The investigators will seek to understand the reasons that prompted this man to travel armed and, above all, what his intentions were once in Morocco.
