A French supporter caught in the Moroccan judicial system

The incidents that occurred on January 18th during the final between Senegal and Morocco led to the arrest of this young Parisian, who is the brother of an assistant to the Senegalese coach. According to his lawyer, Me Jaouad Benaïssi, the defendant is the victim of a misunderstanding and would have only filmed the scenes of tension from his seat. "We have in our possession all the evidence of his innocence," the counsel said, relying on photos published in the local press showing the young man with a phone in hand, passive, in the midst of the turmoil.

In addition to the throwing of the projectile initially mentioned, charges of vandalism and humiliation of public officials were brought against him during his custody. Involved in sports humanitarian work, Lyèce is currently being held in solitary confinement in an individual cell in Rabat, where his mother has been able to visit him twice in ten days.

The hearing this Thursday is expected to be decisive for the French national, whose case was revealed by France Inter.
