Marrakech: 8 months in prison for an Algerian supporter who tore up banknotes
An Algerian supporter has been sentenced by the Marrakech court to eight months in prison. He is accused of tearing up banknotes during the football match between Algeria and Nigeria.
Bilal K. was arrested after the broadcast of images showing his act in the stands. The judgment states that the alleged facts are clearly established by the material evidence submitted to the file.
The Moroccan justice system has qualified this gesture as a deliberate attack on the legal tender. In addition to his prison sentence, the man will have to pay a fine of five hundred dirhams.
Another individual, also of Algerian origin, has been detained for stealing a radio belonging to the security services. He is due to appear before the courts in the coming days.
