French Muslims to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr on May 2, Marking End of Ramadan

Begun on April 2, 2022 in France, Ramadan is nearing its end. On what date will Eid Al-Fitr be celebrated in the country that has just re-elected Emmanuel Macron?
"Given the most accurate scientific data, with regard to the month of Shawwal: the conjunction (new moon) will take place, insha’Allah, on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 8:28 pm GMT (10:28 pm: Paris time); the necessary conditions for the visual sighting of the new crescent of Shawwal in the world will be met insha’Allah the next day, Sunday, May 1, from 1:23 pm GMT (3:23 pm: Paris time)," states the Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF) in a press release. Consequently, "the first day of the month of Shawwal, corresponding to the Eid al-Fitr festival, will be insha’Allah on Monday, May 2, 2022," the theological body concluded.
For the year 1443-2022, the amount of zakat al-Fitr has been set at 7 € per person and this in all regions across the country, the CTMF had announced, which had agreed with the GMP. Muslims in France are invited to pay this amount before Eid.
