French Muslims to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr on May 24, 2020

The date of the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr in France is already known. It has just been announced by the Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF).
The unified Muslim calendar based on calculations, announced a 30-day fasting month that will end on Saturday, May 23, 2020. This means that the Eid al-Fitr holiday, corresponding to the first day of Shawwal, is scheduled for Sunday, May 24, 2020.
The Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF) confirms these calculations. "Given the most accurate scientific data, with regard to the month of Shawwal, the conjunction (new moon) will take place on May 22, 2020 at 5:39 pm GMT (7:39 pm: Paris time). The new crescent moon will be visible the next day (May 23, 2020) at 10:05 am GMT," the religious organization said. Thus, "the first day of Shawwal (Eid al-Fitr) will be on Sunday, May 24, 2020".
For its part, the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) is preparing to announce the date of Eid al-Fitr in France on Friday, May 22, during the traditional Night of Doubt at the Grand Mosque of Paris. This year again, this announcement will be celebrated after a videoconference meeting.
