Eid al-Fitr in France Set for May 24, Marking End of Ramadan

The date of the end of Ramadan is known. The Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF) announced that the entire Muslim community will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
According to the CTMF, the conjunction takes place this Friday, May 22, 2020, two hours before sunset, at 5:39 pm GMT (universal time), or 7:39 pm in Paris. Consequently, the new crescent will not be seen this Friday in France. It will only be visible about ten hours after the conjunction, the council specifies.
"In the white part of the map, the new crescent will not be visible either, even if the conjunction has already taken place and the moon remains a little after sunset. Because the two previous conditions are not 100% fulfilled, namely the ten hours and the thirty minutes," adds the Muslim organization.
In view of these observations, the Muslim Theological Council of France (CTMF) concludes that Eid al-Fitr will take place in France on Sunday, May 24.
