French Government Grants Exemption for Early Morning Muslim Prayer During Curfew

Deconfinement is progressing gradually in France. In order to allow Muslims to go to mosques for the morning prayer (Fajr), the Ministry of the Interior has granted a new exemption. This measure took effect on May 22, 2021.
The press release from the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) informs the mosques in France that the time of the morning prayer varies from one city to another and will continue to advance a few minutes every day until June 22, 2021. From that date, the trend will reverse until the time of the morning prayer occurs after 6:00 a.m.
To remain within the context of the curfew for the period concerned, the CFCM recommends that mosques delay this prayer, as much as possible, in order to make proportionate use of the granted exemption.
Furthermore, the change in the curfew from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. does not yet allow worshippers to go to mosques for the two prayers of Al Maghreb and Al Icha. Worshippers are therefore invited to perform these at home until further notice.
