French fugitive arrested by police in Tangier for drug trafficking and car theft
The manhunt came to an end this Monday. The police services arrested in Tangier a 34-year-old French national, actively sought by the judicial authorities in France. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was the target of an international arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in organized serious crime activities.
According to the Moroccan authorities, this Interpol red notice is related to "a case concerning the establishment of a criminal network and facts of international drug trafficking, committed through the use of stolen vehicles". The acts he is accused of are considered serious under criminal law.
As soon as the arrest was confirmed, the Interpol National Central Bureau in Rabat activated the cooperation protocols. Its French counterpart was immediately notified of the arrest in order to initiate the handover procedure provided for by international legal instruments.
