Four Arrested in Laâyoune for International Drug Trafficking and Illegal Weapons
The elements of the Prefectural Judicial Police Service of Laâyoune have just arrested four individuals. They would have links with a criminal network of international drug and psychotropic trafficking, and would possess hunting weapons without a permit.
This arrest was only possible thanks to the precise information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The searches carried out as part of this case proved fruitful. In total, 2 hunting rifles, 53 cartridges, foreign military uniforms, 6 cars, 4 motorized zodiacs, 7 flashlights, 3 projectors, 1 satellite phone, 2 walkie-talkies, as well as containers filled with nearly 1,000 liters of gasoline were seized, indicates the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in a press release.
Similarly, the search operations made it possible to discover 760 kilograms of contraband tobacco, 22 bladed weapons of different sizes, 22 license plates for cars and zodiacs, 4 GPS, 1 pair of binoculars and 6 fire extinguishers.
Pending the determination of all the criminal acts attributed to the members of this network, the identification of its possible ramifications at the national and international levels and the apprehension of all potential accomplices, the defendants have been placed in custody.
