Former Rap Star Diam’s Reveals Pill Addiction Before Islamic Conversion

The former and famous rapper, Mélanie Georgiades alias Diam’s, confesses to having developed a rare addiction to medication before her conversion to Islam.
Diam’s chose her Instagram account to reveal her past demons to her subscribers. "Many people ask me how I got out of it. It’s true that I didn’t dwell on it in my big book, but before my conversion to Islam, I found myself taking nine pills a day," confesses the interpreter of "Ma souffrance".
According to Diam’s, she had to see a psychiatrist to succeed in slowing down or even completely abandoning the pills. "He helped me reduce the doses over several months. He told me how to gradually stop each medication," she said. For her, detoxification was only the first step.
"The pills give the illusion of better coping with a difficult life, but once people are weaned off, the underlying problems persist and those are the ones that need to be healed to get out of it for good," she advises.
Behind the addiction to pills, she recounts, there are many sufferings, wounds or existential questions left unanswered.
